Drinking several Patagonia beers 👉 Enjoying the absurd view 👉 Living in the moment And honestly? I don't regret it one bit.

After driving through the Argentine Patagonia, going all the way to Ushuaia, and even stretching the trip to the Atacama Desert in Chile… I can tell you with authority: if there are two places in Argentina I’d recommend with my eyes closed, they are Bariloche and Mendoza.

Seriously.

You can’t go wrong! In fact, if you’re thinking about your first international trip, you can start here without any fear.

DESTINATION: Argentina ✈️ Bariloche, Mendoza, and a Patagonia beer in hand 🍺

❄️ Bariloche: The so-called “Brasiloche” (and I get why)

Especially in the winter, Bariloche looks like a movie set.

Little houses covered in snow, giant mountains, roads that look like an enchanted valley… it’s the kind of place where you look and think, “there’s no way this is real.”

And I’m speaking from experience—I loved Bariloche. So much so that I’m already planning my return.

The highlight of this trip, in my opinion, is the famous Cerro Catedral, the largest ski resort in South America. Now, an important point: If you’ve never skied in your life… take it easy! 😅

I didn’t risk it myself.

Because yes, it’s dangerous for those without practice, and it’s not rare to see ambulances going up and down there. All the time, haha.

So, what did I do? I stayed in the best of both worlds:

And honestly? I don’t regret it one bit.

From July to October, the city becomes one of the top winter destinations in South America, with options for everyone: skiing, snowboarding, sledding, snowmobiling, and even lighter activities for beginners.

🍺 Chocolate, Snow, and Beer: Bariloche has it all

Bariloche isn’t just about snow. The city is also known as:

  • The capital of chocolate 🍫
  • The capital of beer 🍺
  • The capital of adventure

All of this on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi, which is a show on its own. There are boat tours, scenic circuits, restaurants with surreal views… and of course, the famous Patagonia Brewery, which is a mandatory stop.

I could spend hours convincing you to go to Bariloche… but I’ll keep it simple:

👉 Just go.

🍷 Mendoza: Wine, Sun, and a Vibe That Embraces You

Now, move up a bit on the map and you reach Mendoza. If Bariloche is snow, Mendoza is wine. A lot of wine. Known as the Malbec world capital, the region has about 1,800 wineries, with nearly 200 open for visitors.

And here’s an important warning:

👉 You will drink wine. A lot of wine. I, at least, have never drunk so much in my life 😂

And it’s not just about drinking; it’s about the experience: beautiful wineries, landscapes with the Andes Mountains in the background, a peaceful atmosphere… Mendoza is the kind of place that slows you down.

🌳 The Most Charming City You’ll Ever See

Besides the wineries, Mendoza won me over with another point: the plazas. Seriously. I’ve never seen so many beautiful plazas in my life. One is more charming than the other. An organized, quiet city with that great “living without a rush” vibe.

Now, Let’s Talk About Serious Business: Food

Man… the Argentine Dulce de Leche. There’s no debate.

“Oh, Ray, but the Brazilian one is better…” No. After you try it, then we can talk 😌

It was easily the best dulce de leche I’ve ever had. And the thing is, after Argentina… I never ate another like it.

And let’s not even get into:

  • Alfajores
  • Medialunas
  • EmpanadasBecause this would turn into another text.

(Only one disclaimer: I didn’t like the choripan 😂 but that’s personal taste, judge me if you want)

🍷 Golden Tip in Mendoza

If you go to Mendoza (and you will, trust me), make sure to check out Aristides Street. Seriously. Just walking around there is a “rolê” in itself: bars, restaurants, beautiful people, a light atmosphere… good energy.

About the Argentines…

I spent months traveling through Argentina and I can say with confidence: I was extremely well received. Always.

So, if you had a bad experience… maybe… just maybe… you contributed a little bit to it 😅 (Just kidding… or not).

✈️ To Wrap Up…

Argentina is that destination that gives you much more than you expect. Absurd landscapes, great food, unique experiences… and that feeling of, “damn, I needed to live this.”

If you’ve made it this far, I hope this text has given you at least one thing:

👉 The urge to pack your bags. And if it didn’t… read it again 😂

That’s all for today 😌

In the next post, I’ll talk about Chile… or rather, I’m going to trash Chile 😂 (Jokes aside… but not really, haha).

Now seriously, don’t miss the chance to take your first international trip. Research a package, get organized, and go live it. Because some experiences can’t be explained—you just have to live them.

And about that rivalry between Brazilians and Argentines? Relax… it’s just our banter. Because when you get there and say you’re Brazilian… my friend… they welcome you so well.

So that’s it: pack your bags, grab your passport, and go be happy. ✈️
